Friendly front desk staff and easy online scheduling. Both Dr Lee and my hygienist were lovely. I have dental work anxiety and they put me at ease! Costs were reasonable after insurance.

    Belmont

I had my root canal done by Dr. Lilia Cucerov and I can not thank her enough. I deal with very chronic and painful mouth ulcers when there is any abrasion to my mouth. I let her know my concerns and fears before the procedure and she took so much care in avoiding as much trauma to my mouth as possible. She was very patient and kind, and completely unlike any dentist I have ever seen. Thank you so much Dr. Cucerov for the wonderful care! I can not recommend her enough!

What Problems Can Braces Correct?

Braces use brackets and wires to apply controlled pressure that gradually moves teeth into planned positions. They can address both the appearance of your smile and problems involving tooth or bite alignment.

Crowded and Crooked Teeth

Crowding occurs when there is not enough space for teeth to align properly. Braces can gradually reposition overlapping, rotated, or crooked teeth to create more balanced alignment.

Gaps Between Teeth

Spaces between teeth may occur because of tooth size, missing teeth, or differences between tooth and jaw size. Orthodontic treatment can move teeth toward planned positions and reduce unwanted spacing when appropriate.

Overbites, Underbites, Crossbites, and Open Bites

Braces can also address several types of malocclusion, including overbites, underbites, crossbites, and open bites. Your orthodontist will evaluate how the upper and lower teeth meet to determine what correction is needed.

Choosing the Right Type of Braces

The right orthodontic appliance depends on the amount and type of tooth movement required, your bite, age, treatment goals, and other clinical factors.

Traditional Metal Braces

Traditional braces use brackets attached to the teeth and an archwire that guides tooth movement. Because braces remain fixed in place throughout treatment, they can be used to manage a wide range of orthodontic problems.

Gentle Dental Belmont specifically lists braces among the orthodontic services available at its Trapelo Road office.

Clear and Ceramic Braces

Clear or ceramic braces use tooth-colored or translucent materials to make the brackets less noticeable than conventional metal braces. The American Association of Orthodontists notes that ceramic braces work similarly to traditional braces but provide a more discreet appearance.

If you are interested in clear braces in Belmont, ask your orthodontist whether a ceramic or other discreet fixed-brace option is appropriate and available for your treatment needs.

Braces or Clear Aligners?

Clear aligners are removable, while braces remain attached to the teeth throughout treatment. The best choice depends largely on the orthodontic problem being corrected and its complexity.

Gentle Dental Belmont also offers Invisalign for eligible patients who prefer a removable clear-aligner option.

What to Expect When Getting Braces in Belmont

Orthodontic treatment is planned around your starting tooth positions and the changes needed to create better alignment.

Your Orthodontic Consultation

Your orthodontist first evaluates your teeth, bite, spacing, crowding, and jaw relationships. Dental imaging and digital records may also be used to understand your orthodontic needs and develop your treatment plan.

Gentle Dental Belmont uses digital X-rays and provides orthodontic care within the same multi-specialty dental office.

Placing Your Braces

For traditional braces, brackets are bonded to the teeth and connected with an archwire. The orthodontic system applies gentle, continuous pressure to gradually guide teeth toward their planned positions.

Adjustments Throughout Treatment

You will return for orthodontic appointments so your progress can be monitored and the braces can be adjusted when needed. These visits help keep tooth movement progressing according to the treatment plan.

Caring for Your Teeth While Wearing Braces

Fixed braces create additional spaces where food and plaque can collect, so oral hygiene becomes especially important during orthodontic treatment.

Brush carefully around brackets and along the gumline, clean between your teeth, and follow your orthodontist's instructions for foods that could damage brackets or wires.

Regular dental checkups and cleanings should also continue while you have braces. Gentle Dental Belmont provides both general dentistry and orthodontic care in the same office, helping patients coordinate routine oral care with their orthodontic treatment.

Braces for Children, Teens, and Adults in Belmont

There is no single age that is right for every orthodontic patient. Treatment depends on dental development, bite concerns, tooth position, and individual needs.

Gentle Dental provides orthodontic treatment for both adults and children, and its orthodontic services include traditional metal braces, clear braces, ceramic braces, and other orthodontic options.

At Gentle Dental Belmont, orthodontic care is provided by Dr. Shaima Tabari, a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
