Today, I visited Gentle Dental Somerville for a routine dental check-up. Dr He conducted a thorough examination and identified a crack in one of my teeth that will require a crown. Preventive treatment was provided, and a follow-up appointment has been scheduled. Thanks to Dr He for the excellent and gentle care.
I called in with an extremely painful tooth and was offered a same day visit with Dr. Kim. She assessed the tooth and made a decision to remove an old crown in order to do a thorough root canal. Her clinical judgement and thoughtful approach inspired confidence. The client team representatives at the front desk showed a lot of empathy, even offering me a blanket during my 2 hour long procedure. They also made the billing process easy to understand. I was so pleased with my experience here that I switched my care from another provider to Dr. Kim and the Somerville team. I highly recommend this office.
Great dental clinic. One of my crowns got loose and Carmen got me an appt right away. Everybody is professional and friendly. Dr. He took care of getting my crown back in place quickly and painlessly. He takes the time and performs quality work. I highly recommend him.
Gentle Dental typically completes a crown in two appointments.
During the first visit, the dentist removes decay if necessary, shapes the tooth, and takes a 3D digital scan used to create your custom crown. A temporary crown protects the prepared tooth while the permanent restoration is made.
At the follow-up appointment, the temporary crown is removed and your custom crown is checked for fit and bite before being securely cemented in place.
Dental crowns are available in different materials, and the appropriate choice depends on factors such as the location of the tooth, strength requirements, appearance, and individual dental needs. Crowns can be designed to blend naturally with surrounding teeth while restoring comfortable chewing function.
Brush and floss regularly around the crowned tooth and continue routine dental exams and cleanings. Maintaining good oral hygiene helps protect the natural tooth underneath the crown and the surrounding gums.
Gentle Dental Somerville provides crowns along with restorative, preventive, and specialty dental services in one location. Digital scanning is used as part of the crown process to create a custom restoration for the prepared tooth.
Gentle Dental in Attleboro offers preventive, restorative, emergency, and cosmetic dentistry to help patients protect their oral health and maintain a confident smile.
Gentle Dental Somerville provides custom dental crowns for damaged or weakened teeth as part of its restorative dental services.
A crown may be recommended when a tooth has extensive decay, damage, or insufficient healthy structure for a filling alone. Your dentist will examine the tooth and determine which restoration is appropriate.
Gentle Dental typically completes crown treatment in two appointments. The first visit involves tooth preparation, digital scanning, and a temporary crown, while the permanent crown is placed at the follow-up visit.
A crown may be recommended after root canal treatment when the tooth requires additional protection and strength. Whether you need one depends on the tooth and the amount of remaining healthy structure.
Yes. Certain crown materials can be selected and shaped to closely match surrounding teeth in color and appearance.
The cost depends on the tooth being treated, crown material, insurance coverage, and other treatment needs. Gentle Dental Somerville can review your treatment plan and available payment options after evaluating the tooth.
