Great experience and conveniently located. I was staying in Brookline and I wanted to find dentists in my area to establish a relationship with. After doing some much research I found Gentle Dental in Brookline to be the most convenient for my needs. The dentist that examined my teeth was very nice and courteous and the dentist hygienist did an excellent job removing some of the noticeable stains on my teeth. They also accept most insurances it appears and would’ve accepted mine had I already not reached my insurance’s annual threshold for cleanings and examinations. Therefore I ended up taking advantage of their new patient promotion that they had going on because it was a great deal! Way better than the dental promotions that I’ve seen or used in Kentucky. It’s obvious that Massachusetts care a lot about oral health. I would recommend this office to anyone out of town or resident.
I had such a great experience at this office, Dr. Zelkha did an amazing job on my filling and crown and was very communicative and caring during the whole process. The office employees were also very welcoming and made me feel comfortable asking lots of questions. I’ve had some pretty bad dental experiences in the past and feel very lucky to have found this office, definitely will recommend if you are looking for a new office.
I love this office! The staff is wonderful and Dr. Zelkha is awesome! I recommend this place because even if the dentist scares you a little, he will make you laugh and it will be 100% worth it!
Oral surgery includes dental procedures that treat problems beyond a routine filling or cleaning. It often covers removing teeth, treating impacted teeth, and preparing the mouth for later care.
A general dentist may refer you to an oral surgeon when a tooth is hard to remove, an infection is deep, or the case needs sedation or a more complex surgical plan.
Common signs include a tooth that will not come in normally, ongoing jaw pain, swelling, infection, or damage after an injury. You may also need a referral if chewing or opening your mouth feels limited.
Imaging can show impacted teeth, severe decay, root problems, or bone loss that make surgery a safer option. If you have pain, pressure, or repeated swelling, an evaluation can clarify the next step.
Wisdom teeth removal is one of the most common oral surgery procedures because these back teeth often become impacted, crowded, or hard to clean. Removing them can help reduce pain, swelling, and repeated infection.
Other frequent procedures include tooth extraction for a badly damaged tooth and bone grafting when the jaw needs support for later treatment. Your dentist or oral surgeon will explain which option fits your mouth and why.
Oral surgery can be done with local anesthesia, which numbs the area being treated. For patients who want more comfort, nitrous oxide or IV sedation may also be discussed, depending on the procedure and health history.
Nitrous oxide can help you stay relaxed during treatment, while IV sedation is given through a vein and may make you feel drowsy. Your team will review risks, fasting instructions, and recovery needs before choosing an option.
Most patients have the most swelling and soreness in the first 48 to 72 hours. Rest, ice packs, and the medicine your dentist recommends can help, and soft foods are usually easier during the first few days.
You will likely need to avoid strenuous exercise, smoking, straws, and hard foods while the area heals. Healing time varies by procedure, but many people return to normal routines within a few days to a week.
The cost of oral surgery in Brookline depends on the procedure, how complex the tooth or bone condition is, and whether sedation or imaging is needed. A simple extraction usually costs less than a surgical procedure with added planning.
Dental insurance often covers part of medically necessary oral surgery, but benefits vary by plan and whether the procedure is considered surgical or preventive. Before scheduling, ask about estimated coverage, referrals, out-of-pocket costs and payment options at our Brookline office.
Oral surgery is commonly performed and is generally safe when the procedure is planned carefully and the patient follows instructions. The main risks include bleeding, infection, swelling, dry socket and a slower recovery if aftercare is not followed.
An experienced oral surgeon lowers those risks by reviewing your medical history, using the right anesthesia, giving clear aftercare instructions and monitoring the site closely. Tell your team about medications, health conditions and any previous problems with dental treatment.
Gentle Dental in Brookline offers oral surgery care with a focus on clear planning, comfort options and straightforward next steps. If you need a consultation for a tooth extraction, wisdom teeth or another surgical concern, our team can help you understand the treatment plan.
We also help patients review insurance and payment questions before they move forward, so the visit is easier to plan. If you are looking for oral surgery in Brookline, MA, our office can help you take the next step with confidence.
Gentle Dental in Brookline offers preventive, restorative, emergency, and cosmetic dentistry to help patients protect their oral health and maintain a confident smile.
Our Brookline office can help with tooth extractions, wisdom teeth removal and other surgical dental needs. The exact procedure depends on your exam and imaging.
IV sedation may be discussed for certain oral surgery procedures at our Brookline office. Your team will review your health history and choose the safest comfort option.
The procedure should not be painful during treatment because the area is numbed or you may be sedated. Some soreness, swelling and tenderness are common during recovery.
Many plans cover at least part of medically necessary oral surgery, but benefits vary. Call your insurer and ask our office what your estimate may include before you schedule.
If your request is a dental emergency, or you would like to call and schedule your dental appointment, contact information for our offices can be found here: Gentle Dental Locations. New patient offer not valid for emergency appointments.
